FAQ

Q: What is Body Recomposition?

A: Body recomposition is an approach to fitness and weight management that focuses on fat loss, while maintaining or gaining lean muscle mass. This approach helps clients gain strength, build muscle, burn more calories throughout the day, and see more satisfying improvements in their shape. The more lean muscle mass you have, the easier it is to maintain your results long term!

Q: Do I need to have a gym membership?

A: The short answer is no. However, it depends on where you're starting from. If you are inexperienced with exercise or strength training, we can start with body weight exercises and minimal equipment such as exercise bands. If you are experienced and have been doing strength training at home or in the gym, but aren't seeing the results you want, we will tailor your plan to make the best use of your home equipment or the gym.

Q: Do I have to do a meal plan?

A: No, unless you want one! Nutrition is complex. Recommendations for each individual depend on several factors that will discussed at your initial visit. We strive to make your nutrition goals as streamlined and attainable as possible. There is no one-size-fits all plan.

Q: How is TRIO different than traditional medical weight loss?

A: Traditional medical weight loss puts a higher emphasis on low calorie diets, medication and medical treatment adjuncts to help patients lose scale weight and decrease BMI. That loss may come from body fat, muscle mass or combination of the two. At TRIO, strength training and exercise is a priority. Strength training promotes lean muscle mass, overall calorie burn, and greater patient satisfaction with how they look and feel!  We measure progress with body measurements, strength and fitness progress, and how you feel - not just scale weight!

Q: What medications are frequently used?

A: We use a number of different medications, dependent on each individual's medical history and goals. Those can include: Phentermine, diethylpropion, topiramate, bupropion, naloxone, and GLP-1 agonists like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide.

Q: How fast can I see results?

A: No matter how large or small your goals, we recommend completing a full 12 weeks, minimum. This is enough time to establish good habits with your exercise and nutrition, build lean muscle and losing body fat. We strongly recommend continuing your program for 6-12 months for the best results.

Q: I live outside of Nevada, can I still participate?

A: Yes. We hold medical licensure only in Nevada and therefore can only prescribe to Nevada residents, however, we can still offer the same personalized strength, nutrition and lifestyle plans to our out-of-state clients with our trioFIT plan.

Q: Can I use my HSA/FSA?

A: Yes! If we are using exercise to treat a medical condition such as obesity, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes or chronic pain; you can receive a Letter of Medical Necessity from us, to deduct your exercise related expenses from your income tax, and use your eligible HSA and FSA funds. Ask your plan administrator what format they require to receive a LMN - this can be written on a prescription pad, letterhead or a special form they provide.
